Is my computer just rubbish?

Ziziz, the question is how much money do you have to spend to upgrade your computer? You can get a lot of bang for the buck if you spend about a hundred bucks on each of the 4 major components (CPU, Mobo, RAM and GPU).

You're better off upgrading everything rather than just buying obsolete hardware. For about a dollar a day you can get a very powerful multi core AMD system, 4GB RAM, and a good card like a 4850. Sometimes Newegg has combo deals that are really good too, case and everything.

Well not alot im afraid :\ i could possibly fork out £300-£400 but id rather not and hopefully just upgrade my graphics as my computer is 100% fine for everything else, except gaming.

a decent gaming rig would cost me around £300-£400 or i could buy a gpu such as GT 240 for £85, which i think will solve my problems in my games locking up.

That's very false. WoW is very CPU demanding more than GPU Demanding, without a good CPU the performance in WoW will be very terrible.
I meant that relatively speaking, it isn't as hardware-intensive a game as, say, Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Also, upgrading the CPU is a moot point unless the OP is able to find a Prescott CPU with a higher frequency, which is what WoW is most responsive to.
