Kernelbase.dll app crashes

So this is happening a lot.
when I try to open some programs (nothing specific; games, programs, etc.) it will give me a "etc stopped working" message, and when I press for details, it tells me kernelbase is responsible.

Any ideas?

Get your install CD, open a command prompt and enter
SFC /SCANNOW

Done that already. it said that it found some errors but couldnt fix them...

Most of the postings re issues with kernelbase are related to the
.Net V* stuff - - just another proprietary scripting tool from Microsoft.

UNINSTALL all of the .Net items in control Panel->Programs and reboot.

If you have programs that actually need .Net V*, you will soon discover that and can reload whatever library that program complains is missing.

Nope. uninstalled .net and it still gives me errors.
