Hello All,
I have an HP laptop I bought almost 4 years ago which has started acting strangely. Once I turn on the laptop and log in, the laptop becomes incredibly slow after 5-10 of being turned on. It is still possible to move the mouse and open programs, but this takes a very long time.
The laptop in question has two GPUs, and AMD which is fried and an intel which should be working. I installed ubuntu 14.04 a few years ago and blacklisted the AMD and the laptop has been running well since.
I was able to use the text interface mode in ubuntu after logging in (crtl+alt+F7) without the computer slowing down. This only happens when I am using the GUI.
-I have tried running ubuntu in recovery mode
-Tried using a bootable USB, same problem
-didnt find any bad sectors in my HD or corrupted files
-Tried updating ubuntu and reinstalling Gnome and UI, no result
-RAM is alright
Any suggestions?
