Laptop stuck on logo

My laptop is stuck on the acer start up logo, I turn it on and off and that's where it stays,model Acer Aspire V5,
(I have no clue how open the battery etc,)
It's never had problems, suggestions and anything that could help welcome,

Remove the battery by moving a spring loaded "switch" near the battery compartment on the laptop's bottom. Run the laptop on the AC adapter. See if it boots normally. If it does, replace the battery
