Lenovo has announced a trio of IdeaPad notebooks today, featuring thin profiles and the latest Intel processors. The star of the show is the new 13-inch IdeaPad U300s, which is actually the company's first "Ultrabook" design, and at just 0.6 inch thick it's a sharp-looking system. Specs include either a low-voltage 1.6GHz Core i5-2647M or 1.8GHz Core i7-2677M, 4GB of RAM, up to 256GB SSD for storage, and connectivity options such as HDMI, USB 3.0 and Intel's WiDi.

The machine is built from a single-piece aluminum shell and it weighs in at under 3lbs. Interestingly, the U300s has no bottom vents, but rather pushing heat out through a discrete vent on the left-hand edge and what Lenovo calls a "breathable keyboard," which allows air to circulate through the gaps between the keys.

Lenovo's also claiming a 20 second boot time and under five second resume times. In terms of battery life, the company promises up to eight hours of "productive use" with the ability to charge the battery to 50% capacity in just 30 minutes.

The other two IdeaPads are very similar in form and style, though they don't technically qualify as Ultrabooks. The U300 and U400 offer 13- and 14-inch displays, 2nd-gen Core processors, SSD and platter hard-drive options, upt to 8GB of RAM, and they both utilize AMD's Radeon HD 5470M graphics. In addition, the U400 has a slot-loading DVD-RW drive.

All three laptops will be available worldwide through select retailers and lenovo.com in October, starting at $1195 for the U300s, $799 for the U300, and $849 for the U400.
