Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Benchmarked

I've been playing a bit with my 1080p monitor and Sapphire Pulse 5600 XT GPU (6GB). I found the scenery looks better with the quality settings on high, instead of Ultra and changing the anti-aliasing to TAA.
I have a Saitek Cyborg EVO joystick and it is useless for steering so I'm considering a new Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas One. Does anyone use that and does it work well?

I have to use the AI for piloting for now. It flew my plane into a mountain and crashed. That seems odd.

"Visually the game is breathtaking and we’d say that we’re looking at truly next generation stuff here". What does "next generation stuff" mean?

I had that problem in the past. It's not the game though its Microsoft, the launcher specifically.
Honestly, I surprised there are still some people who have this problem...Or maybe I'm not.

Anyway if it's the same as mine then its related to the store app and if so here is how I fixed it on my system.

Launch powershell as an administrator and enter “get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers”
In the same powershell window, enter “start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN”
Install the app from that page and accept the UAC prompt when shown.
Thank you for that wonderful suggestion! :)

Out with "Can it run Crysis?" and in with "Can it run Flight Simulator 2020?". Be curious to see if the new line of cards this fall will be able to hit 4k/60 frames at max settings.

For many years before Crysis, Flight Simulator was the top benchmark game. Every generation of CPU, or video card (once 3D acceleration was introduced), or any significant upgrade, the first game I would run to see if my money was well-spent, was whatever the current version of MSFS was around at that time. Nothing was a bigger beast to tame than Flight Simulator, and now it looks like the beast has returned to roost.

I have flown all the simulators. I am a commercial instrument single multi rated pilot. Flight Sim 2020. I have been trying to give it the benefit of the doubt. So far I would advise people save your money. One the planes do not fly realistically at all. Some veer off a runway on landing totally unrealistic. If your landing a conventional gear airplane and adding rudder planes do not immediately shoot off the runaway. The planes that have conventional gear almost everyone of them have in the nose strut a centering link or cam that when the strut is extended as in a flare the nose wheel is straight even though your adding rudder until the nose touches down, and then when weight depresses the strut releasing the centering cam. This gives the pilot time to go from adding rudder for a crosswind to taxi mode. Airliners usually even after the centering cam is out of the picture after the plane lands and then the nose steering becomes operable still limit the strut to only seven degrees off of center until you get on the ground tiller handle. The Microsoft Sim 2020 has a real problem with the different command keys failing while in flight like moving the cockpit view around one minute it is working correctly then the next second the view goes from being controllable from left and right, and up and down and will not go back to the center cockpit view. When you hit say look up then back to look down. then the program will take off and just keep going one direction like up to the ceiling or around to the back seat or floor and get stuck there unless you command Control 1 to get the panel back then it will change sizes for no reason on the Control 1 command and not let you minus out or plus in on the panel. Very wonky I am really waiting for some serious patches to come out. Your better off flying your old Flightsim X or Prepar3d if you have those. Flew an IFR flight form KTOA to KPSP. flight worked ok. Turbulence is not realistic at all. Your plane does not pitch and buck your nose up and down or the wing over that this program does very unrealistic. Yes in turbulence you get bounced around with the up and down drafts, but usually your attitudes barely shifts just a little. This program is in need of serious reprograming as far as I am concerned. Also unrealistic fuel usage at least on the Bonanza. Flew from KTOA to KPSP landed and topped off the fuel. There is like 40 gallons a side on the G36. The return leg to KTOA the plane quit on final switched tanks and the plane still peeled off in a Japanese kamikaze dive. The real plane would first of all up at the eleven thousand feet which is where the plane was at on the return flight back would of been sipping gas maybe 14 gallons an hour. The program will also loose your joystick neutral positions and turn a hard aileron roll over. I have to go look at the tail view with the end button command view and make sure the controls are working. I have found the MS Flight Sim 2020 will jam the ailerons all the way to one side even after checking calibration on the joystick. I found if you command the flaps down and backup and move the joystick around sometimes the program will recognize where neutral is on the joy stick. I keep flying it, but I have to leave and go fly a working Sim like MS Flight Sim X or the Prepared3d after putting up with the frustration of the Flight Sim 2020 failures. Views are great almost real, not quite. The program itself not realistic in my book. Especially the out side view basic command jump around side to side. I cannot find the command for a nice outside view where you can command a smooth move around the outside view of the aircrafts. Save your money. Give it a year.
