Cost Per Frame Analysis: The Best Graphics Cards in Mid 2025

Here in South Africa, the B580 is $334, and the 9060 XT 16 GB, $479, working out to $6.30 and $6.84 per frame, respectively. Before the Radeon's release, the Arc was "a no-brainer," as they say. Now, it's still all right considering the pricing difference, but the Radeon would be better on the whole.

I think this calculation has a problem, budget GPUs like the 5060/9060XT 8GB will largely end up on PCIe 4.0 and even 3.0 platforms depending on the case, how about adding the more realistic figures?

I knew this was an article by Tims just by reading the conclusion. This whole spin is just another attempt to bash AMD when the real problem is Nvidia overcharging for their GPUs for anything above the 60 class.

"In most regions, however, you'll need to pay 20% more (instead of 9%) to get the RX 9070 XT over the RTX 5070, which flips the value equation – making the RTX 5070 the superior choice. "

Why comparing the 9070 XT to the 5070 NON-TI? The real comparison is the 9070 with the 5070.

And even there, after going in crusade about anything below 16GB of VRAM, you are ready to recommend a GPU that has 12GB of VRAM over one having 16GB and sharing the same MSRP? Are you for real Tims?

-The matter of fact is that the 9070 XT is cheaper than the 5070 TI... EVERYWHERE!

-The matter of the fact is the 9070 is offering 16GB of VRAM over the 5070 offering 12GB, while sharing the same MSRP!

-The matter of fact is recommending a 70 class card from Nvidia over the one from AMD is delusional, especially after your take against anything below 16GB of VRAM being not enough.

Fully agree.
Firstly I bought yesterday the 9070XT for 900CAD (not 950 as shown here) at the local CanadaComputers store and they had plenty in stock. This makes the 5070ti 20% more expensive. And I decided against the 5070 because of the 12GB VRAM.

8GB cards should be shown in red or in a separate chart as their longevity is not comparable to the others. This way Ngreedya's card would magically disappear from the top of the list.

Besides the whole point regarding RAM as per redgarl here, I would note out that for some reason they like to sensationalize the whole "anticonsumer practices of nvidia" etc, but still keep recommending their cards?

Very dishonest imho.

As it stands, I'll never buy an nvidia card period for exactly those reasons.

Canada Computers has 900 CAD 9070XT cards in stock. And if you’re patient and wait a couple of weeks for the stock to replenish, you may get one for as little as 870 CAD.

Granted the lowest priced 5070Ti you can get there if you’re equally patient will set you back 1035 CAD.

You should perhaps praise Nvidia for finally getting their supply up at reasonable prices, no problem with that, but to recommend a 12GB card over a 16GB one after repeatedly railing against 12GB at that price range is disingenuous and lowers your credibility.

You see, recommending a 14.7% more expensive 5070Ti card over a 9070XT one makes a little more sense. They trade blows in gaming performance but the green team still does better in RT, let alone in all the Cuda based content creation/ AI software so, for whoever is making money with their card, it is an investment really so the cost difference is largely irrelevant up to a point, depending on the desired amortization rate.

For gaming however, I would take the 140 CAD difference and invest it towards a better, higher refresh rate monitor, or a better gaming CPU.

Did they fail to read their own graphs? AMD and even Intel in some cases are better priced than Nvidia in most regions. With that said I still can't figure out why the 9070 XT didn't drop in price until today anywhere in the world despite the fact that it doesn't show up in the Steam Hardware Survey which isn't the best indicator, but it is the one we have.

Things are getting better in the UK - 9070XT on overclockers can be got for £630 and the 9070 is at £560. You can even get a 5070Ti at £700 (all prices include 20% VAT/Sales tax).

I can't figure it out either. The whole 9070 XT pricing since launch until now has been very disappointing, and so far off from what we were led to believe from AMD pre-launch.

Seems AMD have done a lot better with the 9060 XT regarding pricing.

Are there actually any reliable figures for how many 9070/9070XT cards have actually been sold and in the hands of consumers?

You mentioned the Steam survey, and that's a start, but as you said it isn't the best indicator. Just seems weird to me.

They use a different math in AUS.
