Public schools no longer teach students how to think. Instead, they have become indoctrination factories teaching what to think. It's no wonder so many "young people" in America want to go into government or a "non-profit" as a career. They have been taught to believe that organizations are the solution to all problems, instead of hard work and self-reliance, the foundations of the industrialization of the nation.
And I say this as an American educator who spent a decade teaching overseas, where students are still taught how to think, not what to think.

There's not a single point in time in recent history at which the US hasn't *already* suppressed and controlled information, either directly or done just by an ideological bias supported by huge media conglomerates (hint: having just 3 separate companies control *all* media was basically done to do this).

It just doesn't gets talked about it or brought up because it's so thoroughly done nobody even thinks to consider things like Socialism or Anarchism because of this decades long propaganda effort.

The only issue is that the same mechanism put in place to create this effort are not over-correcting and going into damaging fringes of climate denialism, anti vaccination sentiment, etc. But make no mistake: the DNC actually *wants* to continue to have propaganda that's pro-neoliberalism and anti-socialist. This arguments about greater control is just a narrow disagreement with the political enemies on the GOP that they consider have taken things a step too far.

The only fundamental difference here is that the DNC is ok with continuing the crushing advances of neoliberalism while the GOP wants to immediately escalate to full-blown, open Fascism.

See, here's what people like you don't understand: There's a difference between "the government can not punish you for making speech" and "the government can not punish you for the RESULTS of said speech".

You are free to claim Trump won the election (he didn't) and should be put into power (he won't) without fear of being arrested by the government. However, once you do that same speech in front a crowd who then attempts to overthrow the government, you are now liable for inciting insurrection.

Well said and spot on. Forget trying to get anyone in the party whose platform is acceptance, compassion, and tolerance to for one second extend those courtesies to anyone who disagrees with their mantra. It is hysterical to think there are people out there that REALLY think that the right tries to control thought and narrative. That job is already taken by the media machine and is destroying America. On topic - the thought of further censorship under the guise of "protection" only encourages and empowers single entity players that assume the responsibility of what we should and should not believe without allowing society to think for themselves. I'd say let anyone publish what they want and let people start using what little grey matter left out there to figure out whats true or not for themselves. Then again America has made the Kardasians who they are today so.....
