Mouse freezing for short periods of times frequently

As the title states my mouse & keyboard freezes pretty frequently. These freezes last for only a couple of seconds which wouldn't have bothered me had I not been really into Shooting games and very click-intensive games. Also, if I'm holding down the left mouse button (or any other button) to.. let's say shoot it won't stop shooting during and after the freeze until I manually stop it by left clicking/switching guns.
Same goes for the keyboard, if I hold down ''W'' to walk forward my game character won't stop moving forward during or after the freeze until I manually tap ''W'' again or cancel it otherwise. And if I type while the keyboard is frozen the letters will appear once the freeze is over, sorta like a lag spike.
I am certain that there is nothing wrong with my mouse or keyboard, so I am left here completely clueless.

My specs are:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670
RAM: Corsair 8GB RAM chip.
PSU: OCZ ZS750W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Microsoft Security Essentials.
I also do regular scans with Malwarebytes.

Yes.
Before posting this THREAD I updated everything.
Any other ideas? This mouse freezing is really affecting my gaming.
(Oh and, if it helps, the screen doesn't freeze, it's just the keyboard and mouse).

Is your mouse ps2 or USB ?
I had a Ps2 mouse and it kept freezing only during games , then I bought a USB mouse and it fixed everything
