MSI has introduced four new additions to its high performance F series notebook lineup that includes the 15.6-inch FX620/FR620 and 17.3-inch FX720/FR720. The Sandy Bridge systems were first displayed at CES earlier this month featuring Intel's second-generation Core i5 CPU, discrete and integrated graphics options, a handful of power saving options, and a jet black finish sheathed in non-peeling raised texture seal coating to prevent scratching and smudging.

The 15.6-inch models have a top display resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, while the 17.3-inch laptops go up to 1600 x 900. Apart from that the main difference between the FR and FX laptops is that the FR620 and FR720 come with Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics, whereas the FX620 and FX720 pack a DirectX 11-compatible GeForce GT 520M 1GB discrete graphics card. All models offer a 250GB, 320GB or 500GB hard drive, optional Blu-ray drive, four speakers paired up with THX TruStudio Pro technology, Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n Wi-Fi, a 720p-recording webcam, a 4-in-1 card reader, two USB 3.0 ports for fast transfer speeds, HDMI-out and a 6-cell battery.

The company also recently introduced the gaming oriented GT680R, which packs an Intel Core i7 2630QM processor, along with up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Nvidia's GeForce GTX460M discrete graphics card with 1.5GB of GDDR5 memory, 15.6 display with 1920x1080 full HD resolution and MSI's Turbo Drive Engine Technology. Pricing for this model starts at around $1,500 while prices for the recently announced FX620/FR620 and FX720/FR720 are not yet available.

I like the bodies a lot. If only the LED lights came in different colors, or could be configured to the user's taste.
