MSI targets Apple's MacBook Neo with new budget Modern laptops

Exactly. A lot of people around here severely overestimate what the average user does on their systems.

Take my mother for instance—all she does is write an occasional document, browse recipes, and looks at her email. For her, even the Neo would overkill for her needs.

Except that only considers current usability. How usable is the device in 3-4 years, 6-7? I have no idea how well-supported all those ultrabooks are with newer OS Updates? And how long do the batteries last? And whether correct or not, many people are going to feel burned by Windows 11 "forcing them" to trash their old computer.

We all discuss here as if consumer purchases are based on a series of coldly logical facts. There is a lot of emotionally-driven purchases that are going to push people to the Neo. Unfortunately for Windows OEMs, I am not sure there will be an equal wave coming back over, at least for now. The battery life, the build quality and the relatively AI-clean OS (whether on purpose or not :D) is going to make switching back unlikely, whether or not it really is the best usability and financial choice.

And the relatively AI-clean OS (whether on purpose or not :D)
It’s worth pointing out, there’s plenty of AI stuff happening in MacOS, it’ll read your emails and summarise, it’ll help edit photos and what not, a lot of similarities with copilot in windows, difference is, it’s a single toggle to turn it off, and lets you do that at setup, it’s extremely easy to stop it and so far, it’s never popped up asking again, it stays off.

I personally leave it all on, I find the notification summaries hilarious!

She still needs a keyboard because typing on a tablet screen sucks for anything more than a few sentences.
So maybe that other one no one mentioned, a Chromebook?

(can't wait to see what ALOS does. Will it come out the gate galloping? Or gimping along? I hope the former to give Win 11 another scare.)

I turned off notifications and Mail categories, but I either have used everything else or use it on a daily basis. It can actually be quite useful and I am happy to have it, in spite of the rest of Tahoe :P I do hope GUI improvements in the next OSes improve its accessibility. Right-click any text and look at the context menu that pops up... I usually spend several seconds searching for the right item. The AI icon that appears automatically is not super reliable. That said, I think all that actually helps it for a lot of people who are overwhelmed with AI and may find it randomly by chance instead of being bombarded. Weirdly, might be an unintended strength :D

Since you know what Che Cazzo means, your Italian is very decent! (ma che cazzo dici?Il tuo italiano è benissimo!) 👍

It's a great language but not an easy one, it took me a while too!
