My computer is on a fritz

I have windows 8 but my laptop will stop my typing every couple seconds and if say I right click or try to pull up say my history (mind u these are only examples of) it doesnt give time to go into click on the links before it closes out on me what can I do without losing everything anything would help thanks

Please describe each step in boot process...does it work, how long does it take, any error codes?
POST?
Windows start to login?
Login to desktop?
While in desktop, starting an application?
When it fails, describe what happens when it fails...Blue Screen? Black Screen? Freeze? Error description and codes?

Go to BIOS and check temps and voltages and fan speeds - what are they?
Can you stay in BIOS without crashing?
Can you get into SAFE mode and stay in it without crashing?
