My F:/ drive currently stopped working our of no where trying to access but can't?

Today my F:/ stopped working it doesnt show up on my computer and when i double click F:/ drive it says file or directory is corrupted. I haven't unplugged or uninstalled any new programs. I have tons of important files in that drive so i do not want to format.

Ive gone to Computer Management-> Disk management
and F:/ drive is (Healthy, Active primary Partition)

Ive also made sure the drive was plugged in securely.

Does anyone have any suggestions without having to format the drive?

You didn't state but to be clear, is this a USB external drive?

In general, you can skim through See [post=720762]Troubleshoot: Windows Won't Recognize Your USB Hard Drive[/post]

but sounds like you'll probably need to run data recovery. The Guide isn't updated yet to describe PC Inspector for data recovery (seems to be even easier to use then TestDisk). Click their Help button in the tool and then follow their 4 steps. Others have used TestDisk (most with success). Tho make sure that TestDisk detects and reports the correct disk size before you decide to have it attempt recovery

its an internal seagate hard drive

im not complete sure how to use the program but when i try to look at the drive i need it says its damaged
