My friends can't connect to my Minecraft server

Minecraft

I don't know how to find My minecraft server's IP. I have been on sites like IPchicken.com but my friends still can't connect. I can connect using localhost but my friends can't. I'm stuck! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The answer is that you have to download cmd or if you have cmd go on it and type ipconfig. Then find where the ip is. And then your friend puts in the ip. After that login to your minecraft then press escape button and then go to open to lan that is your answer.

Hey guys, was reading through this earlier in a search to fix to this exact same problem, and figured I'd share. I found out my modem actually has port forwarding settings, so even though I was port forwarding my router, the modem still needed to be configured as such. I went to my modem at local IP 192.168.0.1, and port forwarded 25565 to 192.168.0.2, and presto. Hope this helps some of you.
How Do I do that?

You can open cmd and type in 'ipconfig' then use the address that comes up under IPv4 address.

Sorry ik this is gonna be a pain but I saw this and I am having problems with my server as well and would love some help if anybody can my ip from ipchicken doesn't let people connect and I cant search it bc it says bad gateway I can join so can everybody connected to my internet and I thought I should say that it is an extension to my regular internet in case that affects anything as well as the fact that my firewall has red crosses on it so I cant do much with it so if any of you have a solution I would be extremely greatful

This may be an old post, so I hope that someone can help me.
I have been trying to set up a server that my friends can access from a separate network during the lockdown.

The server works locally, I know this as I can play on my own server. I have attached a photo showing it working.
I have also Port Forwarded on my router, another picture attached.
I have also allowed the port on my firewall, I have attached a picture showing this as well.
I have finally attached a picture showing my server properties.
I think I have done everything right and I have attached all photos to show this and hopefully provide as much info as possible. However, my friend still can't get onto my server. When I am online he types in the external IP followed by ':25565' for the port and it doesn't work.

Please can someone help me with this?

I know this fourm is old but I need help so im making a crazycraft 3.0 server so me and my friends can play I got rid of firewalls on my router and on my pc I port forwarded it and they still cant join and yes

@ineedhelpmc I think Ideally a new post is created so people can continue assisting from there.

First thing you should be checking is if the port is forwarded and available on the internet.

  1. Open https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/
  2. Type your public ip and the port which Minecraft runs on. Usually that would be 25565.
  3. If you get like this it is fine. 1614508556754.png
  4. If you get the following there is an issue. 1614508590358.png
  5. Since you mentioned firewall on the router is disabled then this shouldn't be the issue. Make sure the correct port is forwarded to the server.
  6. Also, check that the machine firewall is disabled or the port at least is opened from windows firewall.

I should stress that ideally the firewall isn't disabled on the router, if a portforward is done incorrectly that could open a huge security loophole in your home network.

If you do not manage ideally let us know what operating system you are using for hosting and the router model so we can go through whatever is necessary together.
