New CPU choice

I currently have an ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard with an Intel E8500 3.17Ghz installed can anyone tell me what is the fastest duel core and quad core CPU that this board supports?

The fasted dual core is the e8600, and the fastest quad core is the q6700. The board doesn't support the 45nm quads. I have the same board with an e8400 oc'ed to 3.8ghz

your not thinking of getting the E8600 are you andy? i mean your not going to pay someone else to OC the thing for you are you?

There is no point upgrading an E8500 to an E8600...
Oh and as a note, quad core doesn't always run games faster!

Don't bother upgrading the CPU if you are doing it for better game performance. A faster GPU will net you much more benefits in that case.

Im happy with my E8500 at 3.16Ghz. have an XFX GTX275 so im pritty much covered in the GPU dept. Think ile be keeping this system till Quadcore makes more of an impact with the gaming industry.
