New Galaxy S10 prices and images leak, top variant reportedly costs $1,819

Hmm $50 smartphone? I'm not rich but I would not want that for free. If my £600 Xperia XZ Premium can get slow after a year and a half how slow do you think that "smartphone" will get? I can understand $150 - $200 but not $50 :p
I get it. The only job of Samsung's marketing department is to get you addicted to speed! Then the addicted will pay anything for a speedy Samsung phone! Seriously, how do you avoid buying a new phone every year? Well, I guess you could plop the old one on e-bay.

I will keep my LG V20 for at least one more year. My wife got the Comcast mobile deal on a Samsung Note 8 for $24.99 a month for 24 months with a $200 visa card and $12 per gig data with no monthly charge.

Man.... I was looking to buy the new S10................................

Hopefully it doesn't end up being a anti-personnel pocket explosive again.

I'm out.

I will buy a 5G 'dumphone' when they land, so I have the latest network connectivity technology, but I need nothing else than calls & texts.

The S8+ will goto the Mrs.

I have a tablet if I need to do anything more, and I so loathe browsing / replying on my cellphone. Plus I can power down said tablet when I'm off work, and still be reachable by phone.

Enjoy your $2k phones kids...

Not sure why Samsung charges so much when their phones plummet in price a few months later. Come Black Friday this phone will be half that price. If u really need a phone, just get last year's S9+ for free on a 2 year contract (once the S10+ comes out). Easy peasy.

You mean by end of this summer the phone price will be halved :D
Also next android update from Samsung will be slowing down S9/S9+ so "forcing" you to "have to have" the S10 for fluent user experience, not like Apple who went with full on optimisation with iOS 12 and old phones just came back to life.

I highly doubt on a 2 year contract that the phone is in anyway 'free'.

Apple has become too expensive, too boring and is going crazy with its products, while Google has become too big and is capturing too much information about what we do...…<snip>.....People are free to do what they want. They can choose to be voluntary slaves. But I do not want this situation for me anymore."
sums it up pretty well for me

I've a $65 Samsung smilie phone that I bought about 8-years ago. I hope it lasts me another 8-years.

Huh? Apple was sued and lost a court case for slowing down their old phones with their newer OS updates. Samsung never did so. Say what you will, but 2-3 year old phones by Samsung perform totally fine and then they stop updating the phone so the performance stays the same, but the security patches become outdated (speaking about my Note 4 on Android 6). My S8+ still performs well (aside from my cracked screen, that's one thing I hate about them, the glass body!!!!).

You're going to pay for monthly contract anyway, so yes the phone is free. I mean, u guys can demonize these companies all u want, but when something is free, call it as it is. I own my own business and I really don't understand the pessimism towards these companies. It's capitalism, and they're publicly traded companies so they are obliged to make money for their investors. Nobody whatsoever is forcing anyone to buy any of these phones or contracts. I said in my previous post I'll wait for it to go on sale as from my perspective the initial prices are preposterous. My knee jerk reaction to their initial pricing was WTF? But when I think about it, Samsung knows some people have the money to pay full price, and they're targeting those people. Anyways, I understand a little bit of cynicism is healthy, so all good.

That is right, they did,
Also had a 1 year when cut the prices fro battery replacement from 90 USD/GBP to 29 for all iphones from and including 6 to 7.
Also they released iOS 12 since then, with a huge performance update which makes a difference on old devices like the 5s.
Trust me 5 years worth software updates and most of the features with it (and yes I know the hefty price tag too, yes I'm using android too)
Just to mention something from Samsung's side, the video limit on their Qualcomm SoC equipped phones...poor guys in the States. It's there to comply with law, but mainly to keep the SoC cool...haha

Samsung might not did but new droid OS comes with nice features/optimisation which leaves the 2 years old phones in the dust craving for it (able to run nicely tho, credits for XDA forums), but samsung decided not to release it.
Also an apple user change phones less frequent (now it is about 3-4 years) while a samsung trying to force them with not releasing software updates which has new features...
I know both sides very well (iXSM and Note 9 from my company)

My S8+ still performs well (aside from my cracked screen, that's one thing I hate about them, the glass body!!!!).
Sorry to hear mate! That is one of the reason against the Samsung S premium series phones, curved "infinity" screen which you can less able to protect, also the annoying edge feature(s)....and the misplaced fingerprint sensor

Don't get me wrong I agree with your view in this case, but there are thing that some ppl fail to remember.
I tend to say that I rather not compare Android with iOS because the android OS is somewhat open, but iOS isn't. Also iOS only available for Apple devices, android for everything from your toothbrush up to your phone. Two different OSes with two different targets. Apple iPhones are highly capable and used for supporting a person with disability.
