The Google Nexus 5X hasn't quite started to land in the hands of those who pre-ordered the flagship smartphone, but that hasn't stopped iFixit from giving the device their standard teardown treatment.

Underneath the "non-removable" back cover, which is surprisingly easy to remove, is an easily-visible battery rated at 2,700 mAh. However, the actual connector for the battery is hidden behind the mainboard, making it hard to quickly replace the battery.

Most of the compoments inside the Nexus 5X, including the fingerprint reader and both cameras, are modular, so they can be replaced easily provided you have a standard set of Phillips screwdrivers. The glass and LCD assembly is fused together, though, which means the entire display assembly needs to replaced when damaged, just like most other high-end phones on the market.

iFixit's teardown did reveal some interesting tidbits about the components inside the Nexus 5X. The 12.3-megapixel rear sensor with 1.55 μm pixels is a Sony IMX377 unit, while the 2 GB of RAM (in the disassembled model) is produced by Samsung. We're also looking at 16 GB of Toshiba eMMC 5.0 NAND, and a collection of the usual Qualcomm chips (including a Snapdragon 808).

Overall, iFixit gave the Nexus 5X a repairability score of seven out of ten. Head over to their teardown if you're interested in a closer look at the innards of the handset.
