No audio thru headphones

I bought a refurbished dell latitude e6420 and it was working fine and it lost the audio thru the headphones, It has 2 hd audio drivers listed and I uninstalled them after trying the automatic update in device manager. I still don't have audio thru headphones. I looked on Dell's website and it has no audio drivers listed. Does anyone have any ideas?

I solved the problem somehow. Just a good guess led me to shut the computer down, remove the ac adapter and battery and press the on switch for 30 seconds. Maybe this might work for other ports not working as well.
