Creative's Sound Blaster Audigy FX Pro brings discrete audio back from the grave

I still have an Audigy ZX. However, it seems that perhaps a better, but not less expensive, solution would be Audio through HDMI/Display port and an HT receiver.

I have had a sound Blaster 16, and AWE64 and then the original Audigy, but then I started using an external receiver and ended up using Nvidia HD Audio output over HDMI ande have been on that for over 10 years.

If, like many, you are using a surround type headset, you're only pushing out stereo to the headphones, which then do the work of chopping up the sound. I'm no expert but I'm not sure how this card will make much of an improvement on the default stereo signal.
