Not sure if it is video card or what

I have a 2 year old 8800GTS by BFG
What is happaening is the system crashes and when it does the screen turn one solid color. When it crashed I noticed a Dark red, pink, white, blue, green. It is happening with more frquency now. than before. I took the v card out and cleaned and reseted the card. but no dice.
Does matter if it is gaming or on screen saver, the screen will turnm one color
Is it the V card?

Sounds like the card, but is your PSU up to the task of powering that card?

From the description I'd say it was the graphics card.

the PSU is a 500 watt Enermax liberty, I have run for 2 years without problems. I am not running sli on this

sounds like the video card is over heating, so u may want to check the fan.

or its going bad...

Check the temperature when it has load put on it.

I suspect that the video card is dieing.

Now it at the point that I can't even boot up with it in.
I feel I have adiquate cooling I even added a fan to the side of the case to suck in more outside air. fans are all working, I think the V card has just gone bad
