Not to be left behind, AT&T expands its 5G low-band

With under a week left in the year, AT&T has successfully rolled out its low-band, wide-range 850MHz 5G network to users in New York City, Baltimore, Detroit, Washington DC, Las Vegas, and Philadelphia.

The low-band will be easier to get connections ... when the phones for 5g - 850Mhz get to the market (duh).

Readers need to realize that the carriers had to promise massive and quick roll-out of 5g services to bid on those airwaves -- forget that you and I can't access them!!

Another thing to note is that although this supports carrier aggregation with a lower band comes lower data transmition rates.

5G is aka WiFi 6 802.11ax (low band) or 11ad mmWave

Not completely true. This is true for ATT and Verizon, however TMoble is doing it on lower frequencies supplying lower data rates but greater penetration.

From their web page:

Frequencies that can provide 5G: Band 71 (600 MHz), Band N260 (39 GHz), Band N261 (28 GHz). Currently, there is not a 5G device that works on all three frequencies. Data download can be a combination of 5G and LTE (dual connectivity).
