Nvidia "unlaunches" RTX 4080 12GB, trials RTX 4090 priority access program

I think Nvidia is trying to milk the whales as often as possible - How many whales are there .
Even people who buy latest iPhone and Samsung phones are staggering their purchases .
Remember lots of RTX1080 plus holders various variants happily gloating about holding their cards so long - and great value over time.
Nvidia , AMD have a telling coming next year - what to do? - Intel will be happy to flood market with cheap cards .
Will Nvidia try and bundle excess stock to likes of Dell , Alienware etc
Definitely see deals next year get a discount and 2 AAA games etc
Plus given speed of GPU advancement - if you are happy at moment - just wait for 5060 midrange etc - they are going to be powerful cards .

These GPU manufacturer have a well known problem - airline seats , hotel rooms , concert tickets - how to get the right amount for each sector of the market .
You as a consumer have battle these with knowledge how to get a AAA car rental - for the y ( economy price ) .
My advice play a waiting game .

So you brought a 3090ti for $2000 do you really want to admit a $1000 loss in 1 year by buying a 4090 now
Speaking of, 3090 prices dropped drastically. maybe it is not such a bad choice right now.
Although I need to check its performance vs 4090

I am a nvidia and intel hater so I simply believe this so called “unlaunch” cr@p its just a planned plan B in case the rabid fanbois didnt blindly followed their bs.

Worse case? They look as a company that listen to criticism, which we know very well that they dont.

As the real Linus said “f*ck u nvidia”

I dislike Intel and Nvidia because they are greedy and care nothing about customers. And I really dislike Adobe, such a cold company. And Microsoft has a bad soul. Other companies like Iobit, Cyberlink and Easus: I like their products but hate their marketing. It's a calamity. I dislike thiefy Google and their extreme/infuriating security sending you million emails for the least thing.
I like AMD the most. Gigabyte is my favorite mobo company too. I like Samsung and Asrock as well. And I dislike Seagate's crappy products.

And I dislike Seagate's crappy products.
For SOHO products you are right, Seagate is crap. But for enterprise I can say SAS HDD from them were the most reliable (2007-2019). WD, Toshiba, Hitachi and Samsung failed me many times. Good is that Dell provides "4 hours mission critical" warranty. So we replaced the parts in no time.

And BTW I hate many companies for last two years, but Nvidia has a special #1 place here. I can't forget Jensen smile a few seconds before the prices for 4000 series were announced.

I wonder if Nvidia gave AIB's the false idea of a 600W TDP on purpose so the cards would be oversized making the FE the logical option for most people who don't want a new case...

"It's difficult to say how much longer we can expect price decreases to accompany die shrinks"
I didn't get this part. Only prince increases are accompanying die shrinks
The guy talks like a politician or like those propagandists who like to say "negative growth" instead of economic decline.

The current market conditions response is from these price-gouges clowns (except for Apple, they mostly stay balanced with its pricing), so, it's tiring to read/hear everyone saying its because of inflation but its the big juggernauts that CONTROLS these MSRP tag labels! 🙄

If Apple had raised their prices 1 more dollar, it would be a number that no one has even dreamed about before. Apple has proved that self-capping prices at the maximum is the way to go.

Artificial scarcity is being created here. Across the globe 4090 is available in large numbers. In the USA, to create demand through panic this fake scarcity is being created.
proof? Nvidia actually referenced a line of people waiting for the 4090 in the post of the unlaunching of the 12 gig 4080. Definitely some manipulation going on.

In Moscow, through the grey market, you can buy a Gigabyte 4090 Windforce for 2500 dollars. No thanks 🙄
FYI reminder for all, some AIBs like MSI were caught scalping their own products last time around with thin margins we might have the same chicanery here. I predicted this behavior prelaunch.

Actually the only card that doesn't require a new case as long as you can fit a 240 mm rad and obviously 2 slot design is the Suprim liquid is by far superior than fe model imo.

Imagine if Nvidia made this to delay the fake 4080 so that it can sell more Ampere. What's the conversion to usd?
1 EUR is approx. 0.975 USD, so that Gigabyte RTX 4090 card would be about 2242.4 USD (including 21% VAT).

'Unlaunches' great bit of double-speak George Orwell himself would be proud of. Right up there with Extraordinary Rendition and Special Military Operation.

Wow and here in the states the 4090 by Zotac was available at microcenter at 5% below MSRP with member card at $1520.
Update although I believe yours includes Vat?

The 4090 is so absurdly large it won’t even fit into my current tower case. To own one, I would have to upgrade everything else which would cost me a minimum of $1000 or more. There’s no way I’m paying for that PLUS an inflated EBay price. For once in my life I can actually say I’m perfectly happy with what I have right now …. 3090, 12900K, 64Gb. And with near double-digit inflation, an ongoing recession (yes, we are in one no matter how the media and Dems try to spin it) and a near 30% loss in my portfolio, I think I’ll let the millionaires and billionaires enjoy this little gem from NVIDIA.
Actually you don't need to upgrade anything as long as you have pcie 3.0 at average 2% hit as per Techpowerup article. 70% power limit gets you 95 % performance as Techchap and Debauwer and 4k gaming mitigates cpu bottlenecks. Sorry guys I had an opportunity to get the Suprim liquid 4090 and took it especially at 5% lower than MSRP at microcenter with member card. My system is really against all odds itx case, 3 year old 9900ks cpu, pcie 3.0, 750 watt platinum sfx psu wtf?
My 3090 xc3 ultra hybrid is losing value the longer I wait too so losing hundreds of dollars later for me adds up to the same loss. My score for Timespy extreme went up by more than 10,000.

I did it for science 😜

Selling old card now it's a good thing. Now about the new card, you don't have to be sorry if you had the "upgrade itch". Enjoy your new toy.
But that 9900ks is a bit old compared to GPU :), I'm sure that it won't last long until next upgrade.

I use to have the same "upgrade itch" back in the days when I was single.

Now just last week my GPL gas provider notified me that the price would go from 0.33 to 1.17 in local currency. This would more than triple next invoices.
Winter is coming and I'm sure a new GPU can't heat up the house.

My card barely hit 60 degrees from 3 hours of benchmarking and rest day playing Cyberpunk and Red dead on open bench after 3 hours ambient barely moved 2 degrees fyi.
Also Vermitide 2 at max settings 4k 120 hz seen half power draw at peak 250 watts.
Obviously I'm not pushing the card to max and still getting 85 to 90% performance ( which for me personally getting more than double performance from my 3090 xc3 ultra hybrid somehow. ( Just realized EVGA neutered that card )
Update planning to upgrade to zen 4d next quarter.
Also dp 1.4 definitely holding it back.

Some of us now have the price per kWh 8-10x of what it was in 2020-2021. Many simple home users, pensioners, are receiving "erroneous" electricity or gas bills from those well-known European energy providers for the same price as a RTX 4090. Valar morghulis!

So you had/have a RTX 3090 xc3 ultra hybrid card and you bought a RTX 4090 as soon as it came out?

I could have waited a few months for the prices to drop but then the resell value for ampere would likely go down by a similar factor so there is that. This card is definitely an overkill for most people. I was actually more fascinated with the undervolting part and using it on my specific pc that goes against all the recommendations needing pcie 4.0, latest cpu, 1000 watt plus psu full tower. So anyone saying you need all of those is making a blanket statement and its not 100% accurate hence my experience.
