Other ways of booting XP

this is my first time posting here

just wondering, has anyone had any success installing xp on a thumb drive? i tried it and must have messed up one of the files i changed, because i got an error message.

also, couldn't find anything on this, but it it possible to actually boot xp from a dvd? not to install the os, but to actually boot from it?

Yes it is possible, but Xp will be very minimal on services, and basically is just not worth it.

A better option would be one of the Linux LiveCDs, here's a good one : Ubuntu
You can even make them look like the Xp gui.

And they're free

yeah i've messed with some linux stuff before, mostly slax.
it's cool but i wana try with xp. i know there would be sacrafices but how would i do something like that?

I don't understand the question. You probably read somewhere how to do it or you wouldn't have gotten anything onto the USB drive.

yeah i tried it and had some problems. so primarily i'm interested in booting off of a disc.
