Overwatch director blames toxic players for slowing down game development

It also happens in Paladins. Half of the players seem to be egotistical bastards.
If we are in a team we are in it together, but that does not happen half of the time.
Someone joins the team, he or she likes to think they are the best players, they keep dying after breaking formation without any kills and then rants at the other team players for not doing a thing and also reports those team players. I had this happen a few times and I don't like disrespect, so I deliberately just hang around.
Call me childish if you want, but I am not gonna be the carry guy for someone disrespectful.
Playing games should be fun and we learn from mistakes, but some guys just make it the worst experience

This is so very typical of those in power, "blame the victims".

(Dear god, where is that 'rolleyes emoticon' when you really, really, need it)?

Blizz needs to employ fulltime reviewers of reports. And they need proper sanctions against toxicity. For extreme, they need BIG bans (6+ months or life). Perhaps if it is bad enough, account closure.

Once they actually start taking meaningful action and people are hurt by these sanctions, they will get the message. Stop being soft touches to behaviour that would be intolerable in person.

I don't believe the anonymous is the underlying reason for bad behavior in games. People become more toxic because they are frustrated. Same thing happens when people get frustrated outside games. Ever tried driving in big city rush hour and you know what I mean. If blizzard want to get rid of toxic behavior, they need to find ways to make players less frustrated. I don't think overwatch is as toxic community as some other games, but could be better.

This is what happens when you listed to the snowflakes, or worse, put them on your staff as blizzard has done.

Just mute the player and move on. Not that hard. Stop wasting dev time on being the Feels police.

They're not talking about chat, they're talking about abusing game mechanics: diving, pocket healing, feeding, etc. All stuff that "muting the player" doesn't solve.

You can't take the youth out of kids.

Your dealing with children... and they will bash each other online, leave ranting reviews and cause chaos just for the fun of it.
