Hey guys, need a bit of help with something if someone is willing :)

My friends got a dell computer which is probably around 7-10 years old.

I start it up and it fires for about a second, then just dies. You can hear the monitor react then turn itself off again. The motherboard light is on constantly, but the pc just doesnt boot up. You hear the fans whirring for a second, then nothing.

I thought straight away it's a psu problem, however i put another 450w psu in it from an old computer i have that works, and it does exactly the same thing.

I'm gonna try putting in a 900w psu just to be sure though.....

What do you guys think off the top of your heads without having set up info etc?

Thnx:)

Is the CPU fan spinning? Could be a power supply issue but if the replacement does the same thing it's probably a different cause. Maybe bad motherboard?
