Problem with laptop fan

For the past maybe six hours whenever I switch my laptop on the cooling fan is functioning as if it were severely over heated but its cool, my cpu is at about 4% and there is very little background processes going on and I only have chrome and task manager open so im not sure why its doing this? and its not dusty or anything because ive only had this laptop for like a couple months and it spends most of its time on a wooden desk, I left it switched off for like an hour or so incase I just hadnt noticed that it was overheating somehow but its still doing it, any ideas why this is happening/ how I can stop it? the fan is usually a little noisy but nothing like this

Sounds like failure of the internal cooling fan.

New laptop only a few months old? Cracked blade? Manufacturing error?

If recently purchased, I would contact vendor about Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) under warranty.
