Problem with new computer

I just built my new pc and seems like it wont start.
I installed all the wires correctly.
When i hit the power button, the led lights on the front of the computer case would just quickly flash.

Specs:
- AMD dual core 2.7
- Geforce 9500
- ASUS M3A78 Mobo
- Zalman 9700 Heatsink/Fan
- 430w psu
- 320gb hard drive
- 4gb ram
- Sound card
- 2 fans from the comp case

I explained what was happening to a friend of mine and he determined that it was the psu and i needed a higher watt psu.

Any suggestions?

-Thanks in advance

edit: it seems like the motherboard is alright because the green light is lit.

Sounds like the PSU isn't adequate to me.
430W is low. a 500+ would be a good idea.

i tried to start the pc just with the cpu fan, 1 stick of ram (2gb), and hard drive.
It still wouldnt start, but this time the green light on the mobo keeps flashing.
What would that indicate?
