Hi!

So I'm having problems installing Windows XP on my HP laptop.

Thew windows setups says that it can't find a hdd?! -same **** that the bios says

The only little thingy with it is that the laptop can boot from the hdd with vista...so why
can't it find the hdd?!

I have tried with an other hdd and there is still the same problem :/

So what to do?

Try resetting the bios to its default settings, or even try a bios update, using a USB stick

I'm going to guess that you installed Vista from an HP install disk and trying to now downgrade to XP? If this is the case.. the HD drivers are included on the HP Vista disk but not on your XP install CD

if none of the above work you may have the option in your bios to set your sata devices to a legacy/compatability mode. this "dumbs" it down to work with an older OS.

"sata devices to a legacy mode", "BIOS reset" and some other random bullshit fixed the problem after a few tries (to be exact 27 tries) :/

But now it's installing XP :)

THX to u all!!! :)
