PSU Jumping

Hello, I'm building a mining rig. It requires me to use 2 of the PSUs I have on hand, or one strong one, which I don't have.

I'm aware that I can link two pins on a PSU so that it can turn on and supply power. If I connect just those two pins, wire/paperclip trick/jump starting/whatever, is this sufficient to use the PSU to power graphics card pin slots, CPU pin slots, etc? Both PSUs will be grounded via the case, and I will turn both on at the same time. I'm worried that just doing the jumpstart only runs the PSU in an idle state of some kind. Is there some further jumping or signal that makes the PSU able to supply "full power"?

Side note; Is this essentially all those "add2psu" board adapters accomplish, aside from the added bonus of it being linked to the power switch of the PC? Or is there something else that those boards do.
