Maybe because they didn't care at the time. And from the looks of it they still don't care. Because with the 64-bit integer, they now have a far greater number than a 32-bit unsigned integer.
Why on earth would they use a SIGNED 32-bit integer when a video cannot ever have less than zero views?
That's not it exactly. I haven't watched the video and I didn't watch it when it was popular 2+ years ago. If I did, I can't remember. But doing something "only" because everybody else is doing it seems kinda sheepish to me. I mean, if it was the type of video I even had a small interest in, I might but...it's not. But this happens alot. I guess it's kind of a snowball effect. The danger here is that anything can become overrated because of trends like this.Exactly, they are "cool" by not being "cool". Chill.

iPhone mania seems to be another good example. These are all just my personal ramblings. I could be wrong.
I guess in one sense, fear is what keeps driving the hit counter on this video up. Fear of missing out on something good maybe?
Which is why everyone had to watch it. They had to see just how bad it was. They didn't believe their friends telling them how bad it was."nope, it's crap".
