PT spiritual successor Allison Road canceled by developer

  1. The cancellation of Silent Hills, the ninth main installment of the survival-horror series that was to be directed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro, was a huge blow to fans of the franchise and the horror game genre.

The news was even worse for those lucky enough to have played P.T., the game’s excellent ‘Playable Teaser,’ which was briefly available on the PlayStation Network before Konami removed all trace of it.

But all hope was not lost. UK Indie studio Lilith took to Kickstarted as way of raising funds for a spiritual successor to P.T. – Allison Road. The studio was aiming to raise £250,000 ($360,400) from backers, but it pulled out of the crowdfunding campaign after a publisher was found in Team 17, the company behind the Worms franchise.

"Working with Team17 will give us the chance to make our game unhindered creatively, but at the same time will give us the resources, support and experience that only a 25 year old studio can give,” Lilith wrote in a Kickstarter update.

So, everything appeared to be going well and Allison Road looked to be on the way. But it seems the game has imitated Silent Hills closer than Lilith wanted it to: Allison Road has just been canceled.

The exact reason why Lilith ended development on the game is unclear. The company tweeted that a full statement will arrive in the next few days, but there’s already been speculation that Team 17 could have pulled out.

Whatever the reason, the decision to call time on Allison Road is a huge disappointment to fans of horror titles. If you take a look at the Prototype Gameplay video below (skip to the last 30 seconds for the best part), you’ll see that the game, which was scheduled to be released before the end of September, was looking pretty good.

  2. P.T "excellent"
My sister and I had a few laughs during it but we both didn't think it was excellent.
I found it a bit tedious.
My sister might be a bit disappointing that it has been cancelled.

I would have to assume that the series had diminishing sales.

    The P.T. Demo was Incredible.
My Ex Girlfriend still has the demo on her PlayStation.
First time I played through it was late at night, pitch black with the Surround Sound Cranked up.
I jumped, I was genuinely afraid of turning round the corner, the baby screaming the coffin shook me up...
    It was incredible XD
