Questions raised over Tesla's actions following autopilot-related fatal crash

It's fact: http://cleantechnica.com/2016/07/02/tesla-autopilot-fatality-timeline-facts/

So if what I'm saying doesn't sound right, how about giving a reasonable argument as to why the autopilot was at fault or caused the crash in such a way that the alert driver could not have avoided it.

From your own linked article

"The truck driver has stated that it was operating when he reached the Tesla and playing a Harry Potter movie, but he only heard it (didn’t see it). Neither the car’s automation or Joshua Brown applied the brakes or performed any evasive maneuvers."

So, yes you are still making assumptions that he was watching a harry potter movie. Didn't see it creates a pretty big if and another if he was even watching it.

Even in that very article it states he would have been killed instantly had the roof been sheared off and tesla has stated the car saw the truck as an overhead sign. In what world do you believe the car is 0 percent responsible?

I care less who is at fault than that it took Tesla 9 days before informing the NHTSA and his cashing in for $2 billion before the news was widespread, I presume in case Tesla stock went down when it went public.

The driver is supposed to monitor the MFKING ROADDDDDDDDDDDD why are you not getting this!?!?! It's a driver aid , all the tesla system does is drive between the lines! It doesn't take turns or change lanes or anything it just keeps between the white lines. If there is a FKING wall in front of you, it WILL drive straight into it cause the bloody driver is supposed to still look at the damn road.

Does Toyota and GM and Ford inform the NHTSA of every accident ? do they do it before being asked to do so? Do they do it immediately?

Just love the double standards here!

So you're saying that Musk isn't a nasty old carpetbagger at all, he's more of a stock swindler?

the presumption on my part is that when using new technology such as the auto drive cars, features such as Autopilot there has to be the onus on the company to show the technology is safe and when something like a fatality occurs the NHTSA might want to know, otherwise why report in the first place? Cause Musk is such a nice guy? I would assume the same of all others, and let's not forget the $2,000,000,000 share cash in before it went public

So it is like the radar guided cruise control that some Mercedes vehicles have? I thought it was a completely autonomous "self driving" system like Google is working on. I really think autopilot is a bad name for this feature. "Assisted cruise control" or "Cruise control assistant" would be more appropriate.

It can change lanes if the driver taps the turn signal but other than that its identical to what my gf's Honda has. Just fire up cruise control and press lane keep and sit back and watch the car go around bends and stuff. It's quite creepy and weird but fun at the same time.

I think the end result would be autonomous driving but its been said multiple times its in beta at the moment.
Tesla already has the summon feature where it will autonomously come to you from wherever its parked so it doesn't seem unrealistic that they could eventually merge the two things to just press "go to work" and get an extra 30min nap in.

Added bonus is you could wake up at work or in the afterlife, brings a little excitement to your commute hehe
