From our article Computer Tips & Tricks Everyone Should Know:
Automatically add www. and .com to a URL You can shave off a couple of seconds typing in a URL by simply click CTRL + Enter after you type the name of the site. Need .net instead of .com, press CTRL + Shift + Enter instead.

I recently started using Chrome over Firefox but I noticed this shortcut was no longer working. And well, after 5+ years of using it I wasn't ready to let go.

However, there's an easy fix nonetheless. Go to Chrome's settings and search for "omni".
Then disable the instant search feature.
Enable Instant for faster searching (omnibox input may be logged)

Once disabled CTRL + Enter will work as usual.
