The complete list of alternatives to all Google products

I use android, Google and maps and then Microsoft 365, Edge and Windows.

I prefer to use my google account as little as possible, so I try not to be logged in at my PC's, and uses Edge on Android.

Maybe there's not much difference but I prefer to sync my data through a provider, where I pay cash for the product. So Microsoft products where possible. I really don't mind paying if the product is worth it, so I've bought a Microsoft 365 family account.

The opening para that is missing from the article :

Google has been losing its Neutral image at an incredible rate.
Google News is confirmed to cater to a certain political affiliation and is proven by neutral researchers to be promoting a certain political side more over the other.
Youtube is also mired in controversies after controversies by stifling certain voices and demonetizing creators of a certain side.
It doesn't matter what our political ideology are or if we don't care at all about politics, but when a corporation size of Google starts to indulge in such questionable practices and policing of its consumers, we need to take notice and do our part to end the monopoly of Google.
If the material is getting censored because of incitement to violence, then Google, or any similar service, is well within their rights to censor them. Look for SCOTUS decisions that outright state that incitement to violence is not part of protected 1st amendment rights.

My experience with online comments is that many making these kind of comments do not get that. But, what they hey, I am sure such commentators will continue to believe that incitement to violence is, and should be, part of protected 1st amendment rights. Lies and disinformation, IMO, that come from some of the sources that are censored are just as dangerous.
Stopping people sharing demonstrably provable lies and promoting actions which led to the death of a cop isn’t “concerning censorship”

People aren't going to pay for a personal email account.

Also, Gmail gives you 15 GB, way more storage space than the alternatives listed here.
Runbox does 50 GB in their top tier, 25 GB in the second tier.

Some commenters state no problem with g**gle tracking them and targeting them with adverts, while making no mention of the search engine's (perceived by some) ideological inclination. I'm going to venture my own opinion (I'm told I'm at least entitled to that) - the majority of those commenters are OK with all this also tend more towards one ideological outlook than the other. I object less to the tracking and ads than I do to the ideologically manipulated nature of the search results. I welcome alternate viewpoints.
The problem is that one side has become so rife with lies that accurate reporting tends to come across as being from the other side just because it doesn't parrot the BS that people are used to hearing. For instance, regardless of my political stance, I am NEVER going to take InfoWars or Breitbart seriously. Having said that, I also pay no attention to corporate "news" like Fox, MSNBC or CNN. They're all full of it.

Android needn't be calling back to Google with private info. Degoogled android builds are blooming.

The unfortunate issue with "De-Googled Android" (basically, AOSP and it's derivatives) is that far too many Android devices are locked down, and you can't readily swap in a different OS build. Would like to see manufactures forced to unlock devices (at minimum unlocking them after a year or so, eespecially once they're no longer being updated my the manufacturer themselves). But under our new citizen-hostile administration I don't see that happening (can't have them disobeying their masters at Google).

It’s not “picking a side” buddy, it’s censoring those consistently sharing provable, demonstrably false information and promoting violence.

It’s not “we only censor the right” it’s “we censor the right more because they lie way more (and poorly) and their lies hurt people more”

They sure have you duped! WAKE UP!

Magic Earth is a good alternative to Google Maps on Android. I've started using it and it's ok. It's not quite as polished, but it gets me there.

Edge browser, its Microsoft, but your using their OS, Edge isn't sending nothing your pc isn't.

Annnnd for email, I use my own webserver. Maps I use Waze on my phone.

Good for them, if they can find fools to pay outrageous prices then I have no issues with them. As for me I will wait for prices to become reasonable again. I got everything else I wanted at MSRP without too much trouble I just had wait a bit longer then normal.

Mission impossible. You cannot replace everything with alternatives. For example YouTube and Google Drive.

For example YouTube and Google Drive.
Why do you think Google Drive is so different than all the other alternatives?

I have Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. I've used a couple other online storage services in the past. I have also heard other people talk about DropBox. They all seem about the same to me.

Google Drive is more affordable.

So why am I trying to avoid Google again? I enjoy my free Google services and understand what there using my data for and it doesn't bother me.

I'm with you. If Google was doing things behind my back like Facebook does I'd be more worried. As it stands I see using "free" services as a trade off and simply try to provide as little private information as I can while I use them. It's a trade off where each person determines how much privacy they're willing to give up.

For example I stopped using gmail a long time ago because I noticed how intrusive it had become. I also don't use any of the account creation services since it ties accounts to a meta one too much IMHO. But I still use Chrome and Google search because I can live with the amount of data I give up in exchange.

I use brave for browsing & duckduckgo for searching. If I can't find it on
duckduck, I probably don't want to find it anyway. LOL
