Realtek audio drivers keep uninstalling

I want to install audio drivers for my laptop but whenever I install them and then restarts, nothing happens and the situation is same as it is.

I did manage to solve the problem but, I would like to know what caused it to not let it install

The audio driver did not show up in the device manager
Acer swift 3

It did work before but I uninstalled it manually because I could not use the microphone

I just did a cumulative software update while reinstalling it and after restarting it did not install and the problem started.

When I restart my device, the driver wont show up on device manager but did show on ‘programs installed’ in control panel.

The drivers were from my manufacturs website and I also tried several different versions.

For questions like this, I like to look at Computer Hope...

I have had Microsoft Windows updates kill my audio - only to recover it after a cold boot.... or by removing the device in Device Manager and rebooting which allows PnP to re-install... or by plugging headphones into front USB, restarting and removing earphones and going back to speakers plugged into the rear USB and restarting.

So, Windows update...it's fardelling time.

I have no idea why Windows updates do this from time to time. I think it has to do with introduction of new 'capabilities' in the OS...like the one which has 'lost' my webcam (device manager says 'working properly' AND "Camera" says '0xA00FA4244<NoCmerasAreAttached' - total unmitigated baloney!)
