Remove dual boot

Hi, recently my family's computer became infected with a lot of viruses so we tried to completely reboot it but accidentally made a dual boot (both XP) instead. The new boot works except it lags very badly especially while on the internet. I was wondering how I could remove the original XP and keep the new one or if that is not possible then to remove both and startover like it was brand new.
