Repeated crashing after Windows Update

Operating Windows 7, 64 bit. System repeatedly crashes (every 5-5 minutes) following routine Windows update. At this point system restore (regular or safe mode) does not function. chkdsk shows no disc problems. Need HELP eliminating this this problem.
