Rooting android lollipop

I am using an itel it1407 phone running on android 5.1.I need help on how I should root the phone safely to avoid bricking my phone.also some advice on the do's and dont's after rooting and the softwares I should use after rooting to maximize the phone's output

There's no guaranteed safe way to root your phone or any phone for that matter. I wound recommend backing everything up, rooting it and stay away from messing with kernels and clock speed until you are comfortable with rooting and unrooting and being able to recover from a boot loop.
