In brief: AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor has fallen to its lowest price ever, thanks to a $90 promotion code that reduces the CPU to under $500. If that's not tempting enough, buyers also get a free copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which is an excellent game – when it works.

The Ryzen 9 7900X3D arrived on February 28 this year with an MSRP of $599. The 5nm chip boasts 12 cores, 24 threads, a 120W TDP, and can boost all the way up to 5.6 GHz. It also has 140MB of cache comprising 12MB of L2 cache and 128MB of L3 cache.

Newegg is running a promotion that knocks $90 off the price of the Ryzen 7900X3D, bringing its cost down to $499.99, or -17% less than the MSRP. All buyers need to do is add the promo code MDSCS2343 at the checkout.

The discount brings the Ryzen 7900X3D close to the 8-Core/16-thread Ryzen 7 7800X3D's $449 price.

In addition to the discount, buyers of either chip also receive a free copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game is excellent, a bigger and better version of Fallen Order, but it's been one of the worst PC ports in recent history, with bugs, crashes, low framerates on powerful rigs, and, in some cases, refusing to load. However, whether you run into issues seems to be down to luck, and judging by recent Steam reviews, the latest patches are making a difference for some people.

If you want the most powerful chip in the Zen 4 3D V-Cache lineup, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is available on Newegg with a $30 discount code, dropping its $699 price to $669. As with the other processors, buyers get a free copy of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

All of Newegg's discounts are limited offers, so you might want to move fast before the chips sell out.

The Zen 3D V-Cache CPUs offer excellent productivity and gaming performance. You can read our full review of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D right here.

That chart is odd. So Hogwarts legacy is so badly optimised that if you have a 5800x3D, the most FPS you can expect at 1080p with ultra settings and the most expensive and powerful consumer graphics card currently available is 60fps? 60fps @ 1080p. If it was 4K then I'd nod in agreement but 1080p?

Have I missed something? The chart is for Spiderman and the 5800X3D is getting 110fps@1080p?

Edit: If you mean the actual review linked at the bottom, yeah Hogwarts legacy really is that badly optimised.
They are playing on ultra mind you, which isn't sensible in any game these days.

FYI the 7900x fell to $349 with 32 gig vram kit by gskill cl30 @ 6ghz.
7800X3D fell to $419.00

And I expect that many still won't bite and prices will fall even further. Perhaps, just perhaps, at least AMD has finally found a way to interpret the signs that the market is conveying - your stuff is way too expensive.

a 5800x3d with a 4090 @ 1080p max no dlss will hit in the mid to high 100's, frame generation or dlss 2 will push it in the 200s just fine. tis a very badly optimized game. I can hit over 100 with a 12400f and a 5700 xt at 1080p max with fsr.

Right. They switched the chart for a Spider-Man chart. Originally they had a chart for Hogwarts @ 1080p ultra. They changed the chart and didn’t mention it in comments. Just made it look like I lost the plot. Nice.

Apologies for that -- we changed the chart to better show the differences between the various CPUs, as Hogwarts Legacy was somewhat of a mess at the time of those reviews. Can officially confirm that you haven't lost the plot.

It's also now a chart that doesn't include the CPU the article is about??
It didn't show it with the original chart, though -- AMD never released the 7900X3D to us for review.

I predict the 7800X3D will have a similar price pattern to the 5800X3D launched at $449 and eventually fell to $299 over a year span. The issue I see is that if you wait long enough you'll be closer or around next gen parts. Then it comes down to is the cpu delta gains leveraging your gpu. AMD might play along with Nvidia near sight but long term if gpu performance is being stagnated than people will not need to upgrade their cpu as often as well. Will there be much hype around the Ryzen 5 when there is no gpus launching until closer to Ryzen 6 to leverage that performance delta?
