It was not long ago that many online poker sites were shut down, causing avid players to lose a great deal of money. A new law pushed through in Nevada has since made online poker legal in the US again, and the first website is up and ready to take (and hopefully give) players' money. As first reported by The Republic, Ultimate Poker, owned by Station Casinos, is online right now and ready for play.

Station Casinos is owned by Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, who have a long history in the Casino business, owning many Las Vegas-based gaming establishments. In addition, they are the two men primarily responsible for the world's leading mixed martial arts promotion known as the UFC. While fans of the sport may be accustomed to seeing Dana White in front of the camera, it's the Fertitta brothers who own 81% of Zuffa, the parent company of the promotion.

Anyone watching a recent UFC event may have noticed Ultimate Poker logos strewn around the cage, in an attempt to draw more visitors to the site ahead of its official launch. Now that it is available, it will be interesting to see if people are comfortable putting real money into an online gambling site after the events that transpired with Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker in April 2011, where any money stored in the site was lost to players.

In addition to the downloadable client, Ultimate Poker's website has plenty of information for new poker players. The site also provides information on deposits, which can be done via a checking account, through a check in the mail, a bank wire, and at any of Station Casino's 16 physical locations.

Legal in the US?
Is that in some states, all states, state by state or federally?
A little more info would have been nice.

On their Terms & Conditions page, it states:

2.1. You may participate in any of the Games, Tournaments, Contests or Wagers if and only if:

2.1.1. You are physically located in the state of Nevada and are over twenty one(21) years of age

I gamble on cutting edge computer hardware. I gambled on my Catleap 2B very early on and I hit the jackpot. It's a gamble every time I get behind the wheel because most of those id10ts on the road are too busy talking or texting on their phones to pay attention. I do enough gambling with just those things so I don't bet money on other things.

You must be physically in Nevada to play. Why would I want to play online if I was in Nevada?? Sit in a hotel room on my computer playing?? This is utterly rediculous if I can't play online outside Nevada however, after reading this I think I'm ready for a two week vacation in Las Vegas and I'll be playing while physically in the casinos. Maybe I'll bring my tablet PC and pull slot machine arms while playing blackjack online.
