scanning in safe mode??

im trying to delete a virus called smsse.exe and was told to start my computer in safe mode and do a full system scan with my anti virus but it wont let my norton do it while in safe mode and i cant get onto the net either ?????????????? what do i do

Go and read the Viruses/Spyware/Malware, preliminary removal instructions. Follow all the instructions exactly.


Post fresh HJT and AVG Antispyware logs as attachments into this thread, only after doing the above.
