In brief: The Steam account of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspected of shooting Charlie Kirk, is being investigated by the Secret Service. Robinson had reportedly used Donald Trump's name as an alias on the platform at one point, and had racked up 2,000 hours of playtime on Sea of Thieves.

According to Bloomberg's sources, it was Robinson's temporary use of Trump's name that led to the Secret Service looking into his Steam account.

The shooting suspect's account is 11 years old and has logged almost 5,000 hours playtime. Almost half of this was spent on Rare's pirate sim Sea of Thieves. Bloomberg highlighted a section of his review of the game that read "If you play alone, you will die alone," though this is obviously a reference to it being better when played with friends.

Robinson's Sea of Thieves review states that it used to be a positive one but was changed to negative due to the game's rampant bugs and cheating.

Following the shooting of Kirk, it was revealed that investigators had found bullet casings with an engraved message referencing Helldivers 2: "Hey, fascist! Catch ↑ → ↓↓↓" The arrow sequence is code used to summon the game's 500kg bomb.

Unsurprisingly, Robinson's Steam account had logged 399 hours on Helldivers 2. He also left a negative review for this game, complaining last year about Sony still blocking players living in countries without PSN access following the brief PSN account requirement.

Robinson also played Pictopix, Deep Rock Galactic, and Viscera Cleanup Detail. He spent 126 hours on PowerWash Simulator, too.

Another of Robinson's bullet casing referenced a meme about the furry subculture. His Steam account shows an uncommon sticker award for dating simulator Furry Shades of Gay.

Robinson's immersion in gaming and online culture is being examined by authorities not only for motives but also for anyone who aided or encouraged him. FBI Director Kash Patel said more than 20 people who were part of the Discord chat where Robinson reportedly confessed to the shooting were being investigated.

Earlier this week, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer sent letters to Gabe Newell of Valve, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy, Reddit boss Steve Huffman, and Discord CEO Humam Sakhnini, requesting their testimony on online radicalization next month.

So, are they trying again suggest the games are reason for murders?:)
Again, stop making stupid people famous. I had no idea both of them existed and would rather keep it that way.
I am equally baffled why these particular people are being so heavily talked about and made present in the news. Not to say the events aren't of interest, but lots of people are (tragically) killed for all sorts of reasons all over the world every day. My tin-foil hat mode is inclined to think it's because they want to use it as an excuse to enact some kind of policy change, by churning up enough public emotion and sentiment to get it passed. If I had to guess, probably some kind of "we need to be able to monitor all communications at all times" bill, 'to keep people safe'. Or maybe they're just using it to distract from some other issue(s) that would otherwise be getting more attention. Who knows.

Absolutely. there were already comments ont he last article about using real world ID on steam accounts, which would have fixed nothing but is an obcessiont he West has right now.

I t may very well have to do with the Senate voting to not release information related to Epstein mere hours after the incident, so they're promoting the incident as hard as possible to keep the media off their vote.

RubliKans who scream about free speech will now BAN this video game and all TV shows who dont like lil-trumpy-the-convicted-sex-abuser ... good job RED TEAM for explaining free speech is a lie while being communists and using government money to buy chunks of intel and turning it into a example of communism by having the ''state'' own LARGE parts of it.

Oh and the shooter was one of your own.. LOL

I mean, even if there were social games/experiences that had him in a lobby with certain types of people, videogame's still woudn't be the boogeyman the media likes to push...
Agreed but I don't think that's necessarily what they are trying to do. It's never been about the games but in this case I think they are trying to see just how he got radicalised. You are right though, if it was in game chats even without those I'm sure he would have found other avenues such as Discord.

How he was radicalised? You have a pedo president, working with nazi saluting scum people around him.. That are spewing hateful right wing propaganda for the last who knows how many years now...guy he killed said "Gun deaths are “worth it” to protect the Second Amendment"
He once argued that it is acceptable to suffer some gun deaths each year so as to preserve Americans’ constitutional gun rights. This devalues human life and ignores the feasibility of reducing deaths without sacrificing rights...Guy was a psychopath...

For clarification, anyone who supports the Second Amendment will take this stance as it's human nature to have people abuse any form of freedom. You're not really making any point other than you disagree with the Second Amendment and that you think he's a psychopath because he disagrees with you. And of course, you call people all sorts of other names in justification.

Exactly this. All the histrionics about the shooter before and after he was identified is political theater with the express purpose of passing more laws to control the masses and remove as much of their money and potential to make more as possible.

They also want to find out if there's a push to assassinate other people and probably arrest those individuals. It's definitely political, but only because the killer's motivation was also political.

The irony of your statement...

So we should ban cars? Cars kill people and to suggest not banning them devalues himan life.

Logic consistency is important.

He's going to say that cars are meant to transport people, but guns have the purpose of killing people which is incorrect 😐 You have to think in the same roundabout way as people who believe all guns should be illegal. Lock picks, knives, crowbars, hand cuffs, and more. These are all common tools of lawbreaking. Should all of these be illegal? Theft is rampant, why shouldn't car window breakers be banned completely?

He also wouldn't have thought... Why did the people writing the constitution even think to legally protect "arms"?? Were they asking to get shot up? Or maybe it was the opposite... Because honestly, the British crown was actively disarming the American people and illegalized imports of firearms. So why would the founders of the government make it the very second amendment, and make it extremely hard to reverse as a result? Here are a lot of reasons: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secon...ates_Constitution#Pre-Constitution_background

Yes, hard-right-wingers spew hate. So do hard-left-wingers. The cognitive dissonance on both sides of the political spectrum is just insane.

I don’t care what you believe, politically. You have a right to your opinion and so do those who disagree with you.

Stop defending hate regardless of where it comes from. It’s a pretty black and white issue here: fighting hate by perpetuating it, is not dismantling the underlying issue or making the world a better place—it makes you an equal or greater part of the problem.

Murdering your way to a better world. Really? The dude who was speaking was not as much of a psycho as the dude who fired a shot into his neck at a crowded event.

This is basics, man. Too many people seem incapable of grasping the simple math.

You'll find few people more pro-second amendment than myself. However, this is a widespread misunderstanding. And clearing up the misunderstanding is even more confusing than the misunderstanding.

The second amendment was originally the fourth amendment, because there were two amendments listed before the first (third) amendment, that were not ratified with the original cluster of rights enumerated in the bill of rights.

Thoroughly confused?

The first - and never ratified - amendment stated a formula for determining the size of the House of Representatives based on the population of the United States in 1789. The states never ratified it. The original Second Amendment was about determining when Congress can change its pay. It took a very long time, but the original Second Amendment became the 27th Amendment when it was ratified in 1992 (it made sense to re-jigger the numbering since it would confuse everyone even more than this.)

So:
First amendment, never ratified, formula for determining size of House of reps
Second amendment, ratified in 1992, congressional pay
Third amendment, the first amendment (lol), freedom of speech, assembly, religion, etc
Fourth amendment, the second amendment (lol), right of the people to keep and bear arms.

So, the upshot is that the amendments really aren't ordered by importance. For that matter, the current third amendment has never even been tested before the Supreme Court, as it's never been 'used', and its importance is far far less than the actual fourth amendment.

Normally I'd blame a post like this on my morning coffee, but morning coffee was twelve hours ago.
