By carefully waiting until the PC said "Done" in the left-hand bottom corner, I was able to download Malwarebytes and scan. I found 3 infected files and removed them.
I then tried to download the spyware removal tool and got as far as starting to download, when it crashed and the message "The Smartscreen filter online service is temporary unavailable." was shown on the bottom of the download screen. What does this message mean?
At the time, I had my virus and firewall protection disabled.
