Sony could respond to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard by purchasing EA

EA make garbage games but they do have a very strong effect on sales with their sports games. In the U.K. at least there are dozens of people who buy consoles exclusively to play FIFA. If FIFA and all the other popular EA sports games became PS exclusives that could make quite a big difference to sales numbers. And Sony are ruthless, they would absolutely cut Xbox off as soon as they can.

Although in all fairness I think Microsoft are being stupid for allowing it’s games to proceed with releasing on the PlayStation. I like that they do it but from a business point of view it’s bizarre, they are generating profit for their direct competitor.

MS could indeed cut their games from PlayStation, but we are in a time where people hate that type of moves from companies. Look at how much people hate Epic Games because of all their exclusivity contracts.
Same would happen with Sony if they did a similar move, there would be a backlash of people upset.

PlayStation and EA do not match and all. EA's quality has been in the dumpster for years and they're the greediest company on the planet, right next to Activision. I don't think anybody should be partnering up with them, they've ruined every good franchise that they had, Sims and Madden especially, with their greed. DLC for DLC for DLC. The fact that Sims 4 costs over $1000 to fully own is ridiculous to me and should honestly be illegal for a game that isn't even worth the original $60 price tag because of how barebones it is compared to Sims 3 and a lot of other old Sims games on PS2 because they want to put all the actual content behind a paywall. Dear Sony, if you're gonna waste money you don't even have, unlike Microsoft, either put it into making your exclusives even better than they already are, do something about scalpers and put more PS5s on the shelves so people can actually buy and play your console, or save and get Rockstar from up under Take-Two, which I don't see happening. Take-Two is worse than EA, imo. Rockstar fit PlayStation so we'll over the years when they were exclusive to PS2, I believe, they'd still fit now.

Sony has been doing that for years, what are you taking about ? Microsoft has been doing the same, buying out Bethesda and Activision, which are both garbage imo, huge waste of money. Microsoft's game line-up has always been trash and they just added more trash to it. But, I think Sony keeps more games exclusive to PlayStation than anyone else's, besides maybe Nintendo.

So many people buy a console just to play sports games, especially in the US an UK. That would actually be a winning move for Sony. Xbox's stronghold is in the US, without sports games, xbox console sales would plummet.

And EA has pretty deep catalogue of other games like BF, Apex, Star Wars, Dragon Age, etc.

I'd give up Activision-Blizzard over EA any day.

I'm sorry but can't see Sony buying EA if anything thats MS next target if Activision/blizzard was 70bil how one earth will Sony be able to afford EA, Sony doesn't have the money MS has In that regard
