Inactive Spam email to contacts from my Outlook

Hi all,
I have a problem I hope you can help with. Over the last week, two separate emails were sent from my outlook using my email address to (all?) my contacts in outlook. (I haven't logged into my webmail for a few months, I have only used Outlook on my desktop recently). I have McAfee, but there must be a virus somewhere causing this.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the virus (I assume my virus scanner did not pick it up, otherwise I would not have this problem), and how I can prevent it in the future? Someone mentioned to have a fake first contact (an email address that does not work), which supposedly stops emails to the remainder of the contacts if I do get a virus again.

Your help would be very welcome!

Best,
Saskia
