Spotify starts removing Neil Young's music amid Joe Rogan 'vaccine misinformation' row

Yes, I meant to pull out of Spotify but give the reason why. Makes it seem decisive and principled. What he did makes him seem like a crybaby.

This mind-reading and speculation how you call it come from understanding people.
He GAVE the reason why... not sure what your point is...

LOL talking about NY's relevance and impact. Spotify is keeping Joe Rogan's podcast and dumping NY's music. I'm pretty sure THAT has more impact and relevance. Weird flex there...

That much is evident.
But you can read his mind, right? "
If he wanted to make a stand on principle, he could've just pulled out of Spotify himself but he thought he was gonna be picked over Rogan. Guess things didn't go his way.
How the f**k do you know what hes thinking? Did he call you to consult?

You can make a judgment call between he and Rogan's,. "relative relevance", but saying that you knew what he was thinking, is well, a bit of a stretch.

It's actually a no-brainer that Rogan stayed, since in this era, the more banal something is, the more popular it's likely to be..

How else could you possibly explain rap music and 23 seasons of "Big Brother"?

I am a mind reader, ok?

Expected. If you put someone in a position to choose between you or someone else, you better be absolutely sure you're gonna be the one picked, or you just look like a clown. Think it through.
What makes you think Neil Young expected any different? It is not the first time that a good man or woman of character has resigned from a situation he feels he can not continue to be part of, and it won't be the last. He certainly doesn't look like a clown to me.

Deciding who makes a "good man or woman of character" is totally subjective and depends what side of the opinion or stance you are on. History has shown that reality can be totally different from the perception of what people want you to think about them publicly. The fact that a lot of people have such tunnel vision about what they perceive is the truth it makes it as dangerous as any health issues today. Reality is not just black and white or good vs. bad.

Freedom of choice is scary isn't it. How many so called "conservatives" want to cancel your opinion or posts? This article isn't about vax vs. non-vax, its about some liberal is mad he can't cancel someone with different views. If you only want like minded opinions then I guess this isn't the place for you. The majority of Americans are vaccinated yet here we are again. The truth is as elastic as stretch armstrong and as pliable as silly putty to left leaning people.
My point was that I had the same comments made by obvious conservatives deleted where the conservatives' same comment was not. I am not so fragile as to be offended by freedom of speech. I was more worried about equal enforcement of the Techspot TOS. The fact that you took it as vaccine-related says more about you than it does me.

Sorry, mybad I thought I was referring to a different comment. And on that note I don't believe you. Cancel culture for conservatives has been a cancer for a few years so the hypocrisy is almost blinding if it were true.

I wasn't worried at all and even less so by Techspot's TOS. Breaking Techspot's rules is not confined to liberals as I have had posts deleted. And nothing in my post was vaccine related that you quoted. You seem to have a disconnect about certain posts?
I think you have failed to see his point... he is saying that he has stated the EXACT SAME THING as someone else - but his post was deleted and their's wasn't...

Mybad, see above as I edited the post. Out of all the members here I take your word for it the least.
And that explains why you’re an anti-vaxxer…. I know it’s hard to believe stuff that is clear and obvious - but you could at least try :)

Remember, I am a mind reader. I know these things.

LOL again you make wild assumptions about other posters, which as usual you get totally wrong. I am vaccinated and am in favor of others getting the shot if circumstances call for it like close contact with public, the elderly, etc... But am also for free choice AND free speech, while respecting those that do not want to get the vaccine. To each their own. Try to do better next time.

First of all, no such person exists in your made up scenario. Secondly, yes some people will get negative side effects or allergic reactions to this or any other vaccine.

Lol are u serious?? No such person exists? ROFL.... that's just pure Gold!

Someone who feels that vaccines are not a good idea… despite medical science and all other evidence overwhelmingly in favor of them…

All that tells me is the term "antivaxxer" is widely used incorrectly then in an attempted to discredit and smear those who have concerns with the COVID vaccination yet have no problems getting vaccinated against other issues (such as polio, flu etc)

I think you'll find that many of those so called Antivaxxers" are waiting for a non mRNA vaccine such as Novavax, again showing they aren't actually "Antivaxxers" at all, just careful of the well documented but discredited and hidden side effects of the mRNA vaccines, and will happily line up for their jab of Novavax.

Personally I think Neil Young had either been brainwashed by the popular media or thought he could use this situation as a means to give himself an exposure boost and "take a stand against Covid "misinformation "".

If he really wanted to take a stand he would've simply done a press release apologising to his fans about his music no longer being available on Spotify due NY not wanting you share the platform with Rogan.

Instead he tried to strong arm Spotify and it failed spectacularly

No... I'm entirely correct... mRNA vaccines are quite safe - the % of side effects are incredibly low - you have a better chance of getting killed by lightning or being stung to death by bees than dying from the vaccine.

And the non mRNA vaccines have proven to be not nearly as effective as the mRNA ones... There are plenty of peer-reviewed studies that back this up - MILLION and MILLIONS of mRNA vaccines have been used now - this isn't "untested magic" any more...

Anti-vaxxers are those who choose to ignore science and base their fears on "some guy's blog" or "undocumented side effects" as if there was some sort of conspiracy...

And once again... this has nothing to do with "human rights" or "freedom of choice".... this is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. EVERYONE (or at least a vast majority) of people NEED to be vaccinated in order for this to end. You should NOT have the freedom to choose to be unvaccinated.

This does NOT just effect you! Every person who gets sick with Covid and takes up a hospital bed takes that bed away from someone who might need it for some other disease. --> not to mention transmit the disease to others....

Those of you who are not vaccinated, or not masking, or are spreading misinformation to others are part of the problem. STOP BEING A PART OF THE PROBLEM!!

Would you be in favor of a legal requirement that people get flu shots each year? According to the CDC the US saw 140,000-710,000 hospitalizations and 12,000-52,000 deaths per year between 2010 and 2020. By your logic above would such a law or mandate result in large decreases in flu deaths and hospitalizations?

I would actually.... getting the flu shot would be a smart thing for everyone to do. It’s not as bad as Covid, (and the flu shot isn’t as effective as the covid vaccines) but... I’d be taking any safe vaccine I could get my hands on... getting sick SUCKS.

Spotify lost 2 billion so far from that choice.... funny how that's relevant.

We all know how stocks work, that fake outrage will pass in a couple weeks. To put it in perspective the was around 12% of their stock, which could be made back up in days. And somehow you forgot to add a LOT of socks were down last week, including Spotify before the outrage drop, so it wasn't all because of that. In fact it seems to be climbing back up already. That relevance is even funnier. 😉

I like how you decide to quote part of the article yet come up with a completely different meaning…
Here is the ENTIRE paragraph for readers..

Spotify shares dropped around 6% after Wednesday. While much of the market has been down in the last week, Spotify’s losses were more significant following criticism over Rogan’s show and Young’s move.

Joni Mitchell dropped Spotify too after this - I wouldn’t be surprised to see more artists follow suit.
