I do have access to a restricted forum where there's a thread which extensively teaches the use of ComboFix as well as provides updates by the creator sUBs himself.

EvilFantasy is right, you need to sign up to learn at this forum; its called Malware Removal University.

momok

Yes, I am in SWI Bootcamp. Whatever you do though don't join thinking you are going to suddenly become a malware expert. It doesn't work like that. It takes a lot of time and dedication. You have to learn the multitude other tools as well. Combofix is known to be taken out of service for various reasons for no telling how long at a time. You have to know how to proceed with or without it.

maybe i'll sign up. is it free? cuz i do like this kind of thing. i can read a hjt log, its just that im normally not patient enough to do it.

it is free but like has been said, you need to put the effort in and they (the university people) say that you should train for 6 months from what i gathered from the site

i'm in two minds as to whether to sign up or not at the moment

i just read rik's link and i'm very sad. this is horrible, horrible news. i feel like i just lost a friend.

thank you very much again. this website is helping me a lot

but all the programs that are free are not that good

no problem, mate

free programs for what? malware protection? you can get some good programs such as AVG, Avast and Ad-Aware, certainly would be better than anything norton will offer you ;)

Yes I second that opinion. One of the best programs around you shouldn't do without is SpyBot for its teatimer. Way better than the paid-for-Norton-crap hehe.

AVG's good, I'm using it now. I used to have avast but uninstalled it because every day it came up with 'virus database has been updated' and interfered with everything.

well I think anything is better than Norton lol. Yes - Spybot is another good free one.

because every day it came up with 'virus database has been updated' and interfered with everything.

Isn't that a good thing?

Regards Jason :)

If you go back and see what I said. I said his last post in THAT thread, the one that was being discussed was on the 22nd. I didn't say that was his last post ever.
I misread the post, sorry

no, it messed up stuff I had running at the time... it even does it in games...

I can't see that happening. Avast has a very small footprint and I've used ti myself while multitasking and I've had no problems. ;)

Regards Jason :)
