Start menu search problem

  1. I am running vista home premium 64-bit OS

When I perform a start menu search, often I find what I am looking for. If I don't find it and have to do an advanced search, I get an error message. Across the top of the error message window it says "Microsoft visual c++ runtime library.

The error message says"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way"

Then a window opens saying "Windows explorer has stopped working" Then it says "Windows explorer is restarting" however the system is unstable at this point.

Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.
