Surface Pro pricing revealed: $899 for 64GB and $999 for 128GB

Agree, the marketing is dumb on the surface. But seriously TS, stop trashing MS and at least make a small attempt at objectivity. MS comes out with the surface and TS puts front and center stories about how MS failed an AV test and how Win 8 sales are 'below expectations' and then features a review of iPad keyboards.

The surface isn't the ipad.. it's not supposed to be the ipad, and it's not for the same user. Computing is about two things; comsumption and creation. This is where the surface ranks... Consumption: Ipad > Surface > ultrabook. Creation: Ultrabook > Surface > ipad. See where it fits in? Stop comparing it to an ultrabook or an ipad.. it's neither and yet both. Picking and choosing the specs and features you like (or dislike, Jose) is only telling half the story.

Mike,
Youre right on, but you have to remember Jose is a journalist and you are on his site. Its just like watching MSNBC. everyone knows their full of ****, and you know what you do if you dont like it? you go somewhere else. He even says in his articles that these are the features HE likes. He is entitled to his opinion and I think, while I disagree with him much of the time, he does a very good job of stating which is opinion and which is fact

I really don't see the downside to trashing M$ if they're in the wrong. Being an "optimist", (albeit very minimal), I can't help but think, "bad press could lead to a good product"!

So, somebody has to keep large corporations honest, whether it's the consumers or the pundits. It's a pity that Apple seems to operate outside of this realm of fundamentally sound logic..

The Surface is really cool, but I just don't have that kind of money to throw around. If I did, I'd much rather get a zenbook or something.

Why would anyone in their right mind spend such a big wad of cash on a less functional computing device ?

Um, maybe because they can. Or, because they got hooked by the ad hype. (Frankly I don't see how that's possible though). Or maybe because they hate Apple so much, they'll buy a "Surface" table to spite them. Possibly because they have more money than brains?

(Feel free to post back if these reasons aren't sufficient to satisfy your curiosity).
