Tesla Police Car Battery goes Dead During Chase

Tesla's as police vehicles? Not a smart idea.
This is San Francisco Bay area we're dealing with. If nothing else, Tesla police cars are needed for their "trendiness". Freemont CA is about 20 miles from San Fran, which is at the mouth of the bay, while Freemont is at the far inland end.

Oh of course. It's still a bad idea for the reason illustrated in that situation. I can think of a few other reasons it's a bad idea.

I've never heard of an I CE powered police car running out of gas during a pursuit. However, that doesn't mean it never happened. It simply wouldn't be "news worthy".

And true, you could fill up a gas tank in a few minutes, as opposed to a few hours to charge an electric.

One thing the Tesla does have going for it, it will go zero to sixty almost instantaneously. Assuming that doesn't break the driver's neck, the electric should easily pass the fleeing car.

With zero to sixty happening in about 2 seconds, it does give one pause to wonder if you need a fighter pilot's G-suit to drive one...:laughing:
